Yakult Cold Storage Project

Founded in 1935, Yakult is a globally known maker of fermented dairy drinks, selling in more than 30 countries and regions. It runs probiotic research institutes in Tokyo and Belgium, and today its business covers food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and R&D.
Live lactic acid bacteria drinks must be kept refrigerated during transport, sales, and storage. If the temperature rises, the bacteria die off quickly, the health benefits are lost, and the product can even turn harmful. So the cold storage environment has to stay stable — it’s what keeps every bottle of Yakult effective.
HeShun designed and built the facility around three priorities: rationality, stability, and safety.
Rationality. The storage rooms see heavy traffic and regular cleaning and disinfection, so we chose high-efficiency, energy-saving air coolers. They cool quickly, push air far, and also help with ventilation, dust control, and odor removal to keep the air clean inside.
Stability. Lactic acid bacteria are sensitive to temperature swings, so the refrigeration system runs on a “one duty, one standby” setup with an emergency generator. Even if the power goes out or a unit fails, the room temperature stays within the safe range and the bacteria stay alive.
Safety. Instead of paying staff to watch the facility around the clock, we installed an intelligent control cabinet. It supports remote monitoring from a PC or phone, shows real-time operating data, and pushes fault alerts the moment something goes wrong.
